Richard Rierson

Richard Rierson is an entrepreneur and leadership mentor with a track record of interviewing successful executives and celebrities. His podcast “Dose of Leadership” includes over 530 inspiring interviews and has been downloaded over 3.5 million times. 

Richard was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas. He graduated from Wichita State University in 1991 with a BS in Computer Science. After graduation, he began training for Officer Candidate School (OCS). He spent 6 months at Infantry School learning leadership, moral, mental, and physical qualities required for an Officer in the United States Marine Corps. 

Richard attended flight school in 1993 and has logged 10,500 flight hours as a Captain/Aircraft Commander in multiple types of aircraft in both military and commercial settings. Richard served ten years of active duty as an Officer in the United States Marine Corps and ten years part-time with the Kansas Air National Guard & Air Force Reserve.

Richard Rierson started his professional career in management at a variety of companies working his way up to Vice President. In this role, he provided oversight and leadership to the entire field and directed both the area manager and special operation staff. This included 50 hotels and more than 250 employees. His work caught the attention of the community and he received Wichita Business Journal’s annual 40-Under-40 award in 2007. 

His responsibilities included public speaking engagements with his staff where he would share leadership advice for the hotel management. Several colleagues were so inspired by his word that they recommended he share his advice with a bigger audience. This is when Richard discovered a leadership gap that he could fill. Applying the knowledge of leadership that he gained from years of military service to any industry. 

In December 2012, Richard decided he wanted to interview some of the leaders he admired. He sent an email to about 75 people he met from networking at speaking engagements and received 3 responses. From there “Dose of Leadership” was born. His curiosity about leadership made for compelling interviews. They include high-quality leaders & personalities such as Steve Forbes, Shark Tank’s Barbara Corcoran, FedEx CEO Fred Smith, Pittsburgh Steeler Coach Bill Cowher, & Matthew McConaughey just to name a few. Dose of Leadership has been named by Fortune, Business Insider, & INC Magazine as a “Top-10 Business Podcast”. 

Richard Rierson is currently living in and working from Wichita, KS. He is a full-time real estate investor. He is still heavily involved with philanthropic and community outreach endeavors. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, playing golf, and reading. With a passion for leadership and service, Richard is always looking for new opportunities to serve his community and continue making a positive impact on the people of Wichita.
